For several years, with the actors of its eco-system, VINCI has introduced open, collaborative innovation strategies to reinvent its professions and accelerate its digital transformation.

Mobilising our teams’ collective intelligence

Organised every two years and open to all employees, the VINCI Innovation Prize contributes to developing the Group’s creative potential by highlighting practical initiatives of teams throughout the world. The 2017 edition of the Innovation Prize was opened up to students and young graduates as we invited them to imagine the town of the future.

Once again, as in 2015 and 2013, ETF won the prize in the final award ceremony with its dual-flow units. Next May, Eurovia will be holding its first international innovation day – all Eurovia entities and subsidiaries, including ETF, will be mobilised to think about and share ideas around innovation during that special day.

Developing new services for infrastructure users

Eurovia’s Research Centre at Mérignac (CRM) covers 4,000 m², 1,900 m² of which is occupied by laboratories. CRM works in partnership with ETF on research programmes linked to ballast and concrete tracks. It boasts an exceptional equipment stock: 150 machines capable of performing 250 different tests – generating 4,500 tests per year, half of which have been created at the CRM research centre itself. The centre has secured ISO 9001 certification and ISO 17025 accreditation.

ETF’s Research and Development department is highly active. More than 35 patents have already been filed and have brought in innovations which are already proving their worth in the field: the new track-laying method for the LGV, the low-rail system for laying tramline tracks, dual-flow units, etc.

VINCI has developed Leonard, a real laboratory for towns and infrastructures of the future. This ambitious platform explores foresight scenarios with respect to the evolution of all VINCI’s professions.

“We are Leonard” provides employees and partners with a better understanding of the applications of the future, and of those trends that will mould our territories and transform our activities.

The laboratory allows our “intrapreneurs” to explore new avenues, meet people through work groups and find mentors for their innovative projects linked to VINCI Group’s professions and those of the rail industry.
